The Cincinnati Reds closer Ryan Madson will miss the 2012 season due to a ligament tear in his throwing arm. The ligament was torn from the phone, according to MLB.com who got their information from a team source. Madson will now need Tommy John surgery before he even plays in a game for the Reds.

Cardinals Agree to Deal with Carlos Beltran
Carlos Beltran has agreed with the St. Louis Cardinals on a two-year deal worth $26 million. The deal is pending a physical and is said to include a full no-trade clause, according to MLBTraderumors.com. While not exactly a perfect answer for Pujols leaving, the signing of Beltran will keep the Cardinals a contender in the 2012 season.
Nationals Acquire Gio Gonzalez
The Washington Nationals have acquired left-handed pitcher Gio Gonzalez and minor league righty Robert Gilliam for four of the Nationals top minor leaguers. The trade will include three of the Nationals top ten prospects including A.J. Cole, Brad Peacock, Tom Milone and Derek Norris.
