Pete Rose Shot J.F.K. and Broke Up the Beatles?

http://www.studyofsports.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/Pete-Rose-Baseballs.jpgPete Rose Shot J.F.K. and Broke Up the Beatles?

One thing I do daily is check out what is being auctioned around the web.  What better place to do that than eBay?  The auction website is one of the best places to find the most interesting and unique items coming to market.  When I first saw this particular title at auction, “Pete Rose Babe Ruth Baseballs I’m Sorry I Shot J.F.K. & Broke Up The Beatles”, I wasn’t really sure what to think.  So I did what anyone else would do and clicked on the auction title to find two baseballs up for auction.  One baseball is signed ”I’m Sorry I Shot J.F.K. Pete Rose” and the other ball is signed “I’m Sorry I Broke Up The Beatles Pete Rose”.  Although these baseballs do not come with authentication they do look to be the real deal as Rose usually inscribes baseballs in capital block letters and then signs his name.  The seller has also guaranteed the baseballs will pass PSA/DNA or JSA or your money back plus 30%.  The baseballs are currently at $434 and end later today.  Click here to check out the auction!

If you are a collector of sports cards and memorabilia, the thing you always strive to do is to obtain that unique, one-of-a-kind item. Studyofsports.com is always on the lookout for items to feature on the site and give collectors the opportunity to accomplish their collecting goals. We will be posting some of the great sports items up at auction at least once a week from here on out until you can pry my laptop away from me. Be sure to check out the ten items we list and the Studyofsports.com Collector’s Corner for contests and giveaways over the coming months!

  1. HUNTER PENCE PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES GAME USED SPIKES – Hunter has been tearing it up since he joined the Phillies at the end of July. These game used cleats were used by Hunter after being traded to the Phillies. He didn’t have any cleats that fit him with the Phillies colors, so he had the equipment manager give these a paint job.
  2. 2010-2011 UPPER DECK ALL-TIME GREATS MICHAEL JORDAN BILL RUSSELL BIRD MAGIC UD 9 AUTO 1/1 SP – One of the rarest modern cards you will probably see on the market these days, this card is signed by 9 of the greatest basketball players to ever touch an NBA court. It is signed by Michael Jordan, Bill Russell, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Julius Erving, Clyde Drexler, David Robinson, Jerry West and Hakeem Olajuwon.
  3. 2011 TOPPS ALLEN & GINTER ALBERT PUJOLS AUTO JERSEY NUMBER PATCH 1/1 – Still considered to many the best player in the game, Pujols and his memorabilia is at the top of the market in prices. This card is a great example of some of his items up at auction and should bring a premium.
  4. FRED McGRIFF ATLANTA BRAVES GAME USED JERSEY & PANTS – McGriff the “Crime Dog” had a great career and was a fan favorite to many fans of the Blue Jays, Padres, Braves, Devil Rays, Cubs and Dodgers. A possible Hall of Famer in the future, McGriff finished his career batting .284 and 493 homeruns.
  5. BARRY BONDS GAME USED WRISTBANDS – As crazy as these wristbands look, Bonds actually did wear these in games. Some people might find it ironic that it had the likeness of Bonds on the wristband with the quote “Say No To Drugs”.
  6. 2006 HANLEY RAMIREZ GAME USED & SIGNED BAT – Hanley has established himself as one of the best up-and-coming hitters in the game even with a down year. His memorabilia should only rise in price as he gains more knowledge of the game and dominates pitchers for years to come.
  7. 1992-1993 JOE DUMARS DETROIT PISTONS USED WARM-UP JACKET – Joe Dumars was and still is an icon in Detroit. Inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2006, Dumars spent 1985-1999 with Detroit and was named the 1988-1989 NBA Finals MVP.
  8. 1971 TOPPS THURMAN MUNSON #5 – Munson was a New York Yankees captain and a fan favorite when he took the field. He won the rookie of the year in 1970 and the AL MVP in 1976.
  9. 2005 SP AUTHENTIC AARON RODGERS SIGNED PATCH 4/5 – The hottest player on the football memorabilia market is a given for Rodgers after winning the Super Bowl last year with the Green Bay Packers. If you can afford to get anything his picture or autograph is on, get it while you can.
  10. WALTER PAYTON SIGNED 8X10 PHOTO PSA DNA AUTHENTIC AUTOGRAPH – With the NFL season right around the corner, it is hard not to pay tribute to the “Sweetness” of the Chicago Bears Walter Payton. He will forever be remembered as one of the greatest running backs to play in the NFL.

Houston Astros Brett Wallace Game Used Memorabilia Auction Ends Sunday, May 15

A collection of Brett Wallace game used memorabilia has hit the auction block on eBay set to end Sunday, May 15.  The collection includes a 2009 game used XBat Bat, a 2009 game used fielding glove, a pair of 2009 game used batting gloves and a pair of 2009 game used cleats.  Each item is signed by Wallace and inscribed “2009 Game Used” along with a signed certificate of authenticity from Major League Access.

Wallace has gotten off to a great start in 2011 with the Houston Astros batting .328 with a .396 OBP and .454 SLG.  He is on a struggling Houston Astros offense that has shown just a few bright spots with him, Pence and Bourgeois batting over .300 for the year.  He attended Arizona State University and won the PAC-10 Triple Crown twice while playing there before being drafted 12th overall by the St. Louis Cardinals in 2008.  He was signed for $1.84 million and had made it to Triple-A before being traded to Oakland with two other players for Matt Holliday.  He was then traded to Toronto in the Roy Halladay deal and down to Houston in the middle of the Roy Oswalt deal.
